Hello! I have recently discovered this website, and I LOVE it! I have a lot of weight to lose ( over 100lbs).But I actually lose weight pretty easily. I have tried Weight Watchers and various other fad diets and they all worked. On some of them I would drop 30 lbs or more in the first month. MY biggest problem is sticking to it! I have never made it past that first month and eventually the weight comes back. I have a wonderful husband and two rowdy little boys and I feel like I need to get my @$$ in gear! I should be enjoying them more than I do! So my goal is to log on every day, watch what I eat and get as much exercise as possible! I am going to focus most of my energy on that exercise. Lucky for me it is summertime in Northern Michigan and swimming is my all time favorite thing to do! (Sorry for those that have to see my chub in a bathing suit but I dont really care :) Which leads me to my first question. When I go to the beach, I swim. I dont do the lay on the beach and read books or try to tan my freckled self. I swim for HOURS. I love the water. So the other day... when I was at sleeping bear dunes for 5 hours I spent 4.5 of them in the water swimming and playing with my kids. I tried to log that as accurately as I could... with the time I spent just treading water and the time I spent swimming "leisurely" and it said that I had burned like 2800 calories swimming that day. Is that even possible?

Hi there - welcome to MFP!! A lot of people say that the exercise calculator estimates high on this site. When I work out on my elliptical trainer, I try to double check it against what the machine says, and yes - it is usually higher. Sometimes significantly - I usually either use the numbers from the elliptical or try not to eat back all of my calories for the day (just in case).

I also am a Mom to 2 boys and am also from Michigan. I am from Southwest Michigan. Feel free to add me as a friend if you are looking for a support system - this site is fantastic!!

    Hello everyone,

I live, work and work-out in Bothell, WA. I've been going to Vision Quest in Canyon Parks and usually spend 60-90 minutes workout every other day, I also bike to work everyday and on weekends ride my bike in and around Bothell/Woodenville trails. If you're interested to workout together, walk, run, bike please message me. I've lost close to 25lbs since I joined VQ and been working out and keeping track of my intake everyday. No magic-pills here, just sweating it out.
