Are you afraid?

Well of course not me, I'm just hesitant.
I remember the first time I stepped on the scale in years. I didn't want to but I needed to, but I didn't want to. It's not my friend. Then there was the first time I went to the Gym. Now then there I should had been a wee bit cautious. I jumped on the Stair-Stepper and in 5 minutes I stepped off. Deliriously walked over to the waste basket and begged myself don't throw up. Try acting coy if your face is flushed and your tongue is hanging out. Oh my God that was embarrassing. Lordy I was out of shape.
I stuck with it until I went back to school. School and work took all my time and well the Gym took back stage. Finally I was able to get back to the Gym. It was slow going. I had lost most of what I gained in stamina. I could barely do 2 mph on the treadmill. It took forever to get above 3 mph. Once I did I seemed to take off. Say I'm ready for a hike in rugged terrain. What was I thinking! I got about 3 miles in and went up this huge hill that seemed never ending. When I got to the top I rested, and rested, and rested some more. Couldn't feel my legs. They were rubber. Finally I realized I best get back to the Jeep if I want to live. That took some time and much rest. The Park Ranger stopped to see if I was okay. I must have looked bad, especially at 350 lbs.
Now that leads us to today, maybe better the past 2 weeks. I had been laid off for nearly 3 years and last October I just couldn't afford the Gym anymore. Then low and behold when all seemed lost I got a job in my field this past February.
Since I started working I had gained 14 lbs. I needed to get back to the Gym. But wow, how much stamina have I lost. What pitiful shape am I in this time!? Well I need to suck it up. It seemed whatever I was doing at home wasn't intensive enough. So about 10 days ago I joined the gym. I wasn't afraid, just uh oh hesitant.
Well much to my surprise I picked up almost where I left off. My first day I did 70 minutes, 35 minutes on the treadmill and 35 on the stationary bike. Not at bad speeds either. Probably close to 3.5 mph on the treadmill and 15 mph on the bike. Today it was over 15 mph on the bike. Not bad for a fat old man I say.
I heard a saying recently, "Hard work doesn't guarantee anything but lack of it does."
Life sometimes takes us off course but it doesn't mean you should be afraid to get back on track.

I admire you for all you've been thru, and you didn't give up. I've got to tell you, it would be so easy for me to give up. But then you know the challenges I'm facing. But I think the key is to just keep trying, no matter how many road blocks or speed bumps you encounter. Keep up the fantastic work!!0
