Hey all! I'm having Jambalaya for dinner tonight and I'm going to just estimate the cals.
It is sausage and shrimp Jambalaya, and I checked in the database on MFP - some say its 510 cals for 1 cup, some say 175-200, and some say 313, etc.
How many calories would you say are in 1 cup of shrimp and sausage jambalaya? On average
Thanks!

I love e'toufe (spelling?) which I think is similar and I use the higher end of estimates to be safe.0

I make "red rice" for my family. I used the recipe builder. 4 cups white rice, can of tomato sauce, 3 sausage links, 1 pound of shrimp, one packet of chili seasoning, and a can of whole kernel corn makes 16 one cup servings and equals less than 150 calories per cup. Maybe this helps?0

Problem is a cup of cooked rice is totes different than a cup of prepared rice in size and volume. So do you weight everything prior to cooking? What if his jambalaya is already cooked? Oh how measuring calories sucks.0

I don't understand how it can be that low
Rice - White, medium-grain, cooked, 1 cup = 242
Shrimp cooked 1 cup = 210
133 calories in 1 cup of Yellow Sweet Corn
Sausage is going to be at least 250
I would think it would average out to 2250 -

I find the easiest way to log Jambalya and such is to input all of the ingredients you use yourself, then split it into however many portions it will serve and save your own. I use Bulgar Wheat instead of rice, just as tasty but lower in calories )0
