Benefit of running (NSV)

I have been running for three years. I am not very fast, but have gone every distance, from 5K to marathon (twice). I am still fat, but always working on it.

Anyway, I put my HRM on before my run today, and was at the computer revamping my playlist before I left. I look down at the watch and see 53 bpm. Happy heart. :o)

From an ex-obese ex-smoker who had a resting hr of around 100, this feels amazing.

    So cool ain't it? :)

I like you had a resting rate of about 100 ... sometimes over, sometimes under ... when I was REALLY relaxed I was happy to see it below 90! ...

Sitting at my desk at work I decided to just check ... about 62-64 ... and I am finally back to running more (took a few months off with an injury and other things) ... I LOVE that my heart is relaxing more these days ...

And really (I know this logic may be fuzzy logic) but think about it ... let's say our resting HR was 100 ... and now it's 60 (using round numbers) ... that's a 40% decrease in beats! Sure, I pump it up during cardio for an hour or whatever 4 days a week ... but seems like my odometer on my heart is going slower! lol ...
