Good snacks

Help! I have reached my calorie limit but I am SO hungry! I ate dinner at 6:00pm and did the elliptical machine after that for 30 minutes. It's 2 hours before bed time and I am STARVING. I've been told that it's bad to eat fruit in the evening and I don't want to eat the wrong thing. But, I also don't want to suffer until bed time and then toss and turn all night because I'm so hungry. Would a banana and all natural peanut butter be a terrible choice?
