Love Pump class...can't seem to record it on MFP?

Hey guys!

I'm just new to this :)
I'm trying to record a 60 strength training pump class in my exercise part of MFP.
It's really tricky as there doesn't seem to be a generic option to click like there is for and aerobics class.
I've tried to log it as individual repetitions but it says I haven't burnt many calories....there must be another way!
Would love any suggestions.

Thanks

:)

    it's just circuit training.

Actual calorie burn is closer to strength training entry than circuit training though. It's not that much, 400 or so per hour.

There is "strength training" under cardio. You don't have to add it as circuits. Body Pump is nothing like circuits training really.

I'm a big fan of Body Pump, too --- and had the same trouble. The strenght training section didn't really do it so I trolled the web looking for a ballpark calorie burn and used it as cardio. Only you know how hard you work, but I used between 400 & 500 calories for the 60 minutes.

I'm using a FitBit, but the burn for Pump isn't very accurate --- but my Polar HRM is in the mail, so soon, I'll have some better data. It will be interesting to see how close my estimates were.

    Keep Pumping!

To get a really accurate count use a heart rate monitor. MFP doesn't take into consideration your sex, height, currant weight.

I'm going to try this class next week. I find 400 per hour is usually a good estimate if your not sure what your burnt but got a sweat on x

MFP does use your age, sex, height and current weight....I still think they calorie burns are inflated though.
I agree get a HRM for an accurate burn, when I got mine I realised I've been overestimating by almost double for a lot of my activities but a couple were underestimated.

I do Body Pump and use an HRM. I generally burn about 350-400 cals in a 60 min class.

Im more of a Body Attack girl myself - but , Pump is awesome too. I agree it isnt anything like circuit training. I only burn 200 calories (with a HRM) in the 60 minutes and I lift heavy (heavier than the female instructors) so dont be too generous when you estimate calories - especially if you're eating them back.

I do Body Pump and log it as weight training. You won't get an accurate burn using an HRM as they are only calibrated for cardio - the HR spikes when lifting and throws it out.

I thinkthe exercise options are extremely limited on here. I use the cross trainer alot and have to enter it as high impact aerobics!

    Thanks guys!!
    You've been really helpful!
I just searched the web and found that you can burn up to 560 calories in a pump class,
i think i'll go for half of that!
There's nothing worse than overestimating :0
