Anyone suffering with IT Band injury?

I have an IT Band injury from running! I did a 3 mile run last Tuesday and could gradually feel some pain at the beginning of my run. I went ahead and finished the run. My knee & lower calf started hurting very badly on Thursday. I ended up at the Orthopedics Urgent Care office and was diagnosed with an IT Band injury. I am to do a course of physcial therapy, which I start today. The doctor said no running until further notice. He said I may cross train with swimming & cycling. I'm not much of a swimmer, so I planned to stick to cycling and weight lifting. Any other cardio suggestions? I did find some stretching exercises online that I have been doing to help with the pain. I also have iced my knee off & on all weekend long with rest. I'm just ready to get off the couch and do something!
