the calory counter says i need like 3300 calories, but if im trying to lose weight wouldnt i want to eat less? Well thats kindof what im doin i have been eating about 2000-2200 calories a day plus doin the p90x workout so far im starting the 3rd week and have seen 4lb weight loss each week with a total of 8lb. total loss. My biggest concern is that i dont go into starvation mode but if i am it sure doesnt feel like im starving because by the time i eat breakfast lunch and dinner with a snack in between each im stuffed at the end of day. oh yeah im 6 foot and weigh as of now 310lbs.

my wife is doin the same thing dont know her weight loss she's affraid of a scale but she supposed to eat 1800-2000 calories a day but she is only eating 1200-1400 a day.

Sounds like you are doing ok. Are you charting the Protein/Carb ratio? Is the 3300 counting your calorie need after excercise? At your size and weight and doing the X, the 4lbs is pretty good and fairly safe. Make sure you drink enough water. Not only does it help flush out toxins, it also promotes good digestion, helping with the weight loss/gain. As you build muscle through the program, you will burn more because muscle helps the burn rate, but it also weighs a little more than fat tissue (same size of tissue).
If your wife keeps the calorie difference at about 500 a day, she will see about a pound or more a week, which is safe loss.
I am in my second round of P90X, doing doubles, and I really have to watch that I eat enough. I am supposed to eat, with excercise, about 3000 a day, and manage to usually make it to 2400-2500, ocassionally getting close to the 3000 when I can. That is with a 500 a day deficit built in.
there are a lot of us out there that are doing the program and coaching as well.
If you want the help, and it's free, just let me know. Or you can visit my page- www.teambeachbody.com/jimmalone. I can help with answers and hints on how to maximize your workouts and nutrition.
Good luck with the program, it made a world of difference in my life, it will for you too.
  • I just started P90X too, and like your wife I am afraid to eat over 1200 calories because that's how I've lost in the past. I joined teambeachbody.com like the guy who posted before me and they can offer a lot of help with that specific program. A coach told me that no one should be eating under 1800 calories a day doing P90X. That program is different that just doing a bunch of cardio because your wife will build muscle fast that will in turn burn fat.

Sounds like you are doing just fine though, keep up the good work.

Sounds like we're close to the same size. When I started I tried to keep it around 2500. I did that for about a month and then decided to try 2200. However, If I've done a lot excersise or activity for the day I'll go over a little bit. So far it's working.

When I started I was losing 4-5 lbs a week too, don't expect that to continue. Your body will adjust and it will slow down to 1.5 or 2 lbs a week. Which is still a good clip.
