I recently read a scary article: http://www.medicalbillingandcoding.org/sitting-kills/ that suggests that
SITTING INCREASES RISK OF DEATH UP TO 40% ......... Egad
So, I am committing to using the office FitWork Walkstation for a minimum of 1 hour/day.
The Walkstation is basically a raised desk with a treadmill. Top speed = 2 mph
Here's the one I am using: http://store.steelcase.com/products/walkstation/
So, is there anyone else out there using a Walkstation? What do you think? Does it help? Can you st ill get your work done?

We have one of these at work. It's a shared machine and there is a pretty competitive schedule to get on it!
I try to schedule it for conference calls, but I will sometimes do other work. Once I got used to typing while walking 2 mph I got to the point where I didn't even notice that I was walking. Start out slower at first, like 1.5 mph, while you get used to it. Before you know it, typing and all the rest at 2 mph will be a piece of cake.
It's a really easy way to burn a few calories. You have to be at work anyway, so you might as well take advantage of it!
Most of the time I stand while I work (I have a standing work station). That's a nice alternative, too. I sit maybe a total of 2-3 hours each week, and that is usually at meetings. And even sometimes at meetings I will just stand against the wall or pace. I am not very good at sitting :-)0 -
I don't have one of those but I can work at home with my laptop on my treadmill, on a laptop desk that wedges under the front bar. Works great.0
