MACROS & Calories - is one more important?

When considering the two, which is more important to be on target with? I am having a hard time hitting both. I can hit my macros, but be under for calories. Obviously, getting enough calories is important as well, but how will being over on my macros affect my progress? (For example, look at my diary for today. I have logged what I was planning on eating, but am too low on calories)

Since the beginning of June I have been following 50/30/20. Today, I switched to 40/40/20 to see if it helps move the scale.

I started on this journey in January at 216. I lost weight steadily, watched my calories and trained for a half marathon. (Completed my half on May 5th.)

I hit my current weight at the end of May. After a couple weeks of staying the same, I thought I should change my previous goal (1.5-2 pounds a week) and move it to 1 pound per week. I also wanted another challenge and was looking to incorporate weights. So, at the end of June, I started P90x.

Currently - 189
Goal Weight - 140ish
Height - 5' 6.5"
Age - 30

I think I should be eating more, considering the burn. But, how do I get there and stay within my macros?

Anyone else have this problem?

That all sounds right, but I guess it's just about venturing out with your diet??? I have a hard time with the macros, too.........I always have a hard time meeting my protein goals and I generally go over what I'd like for carbs. But, lets be honest...........a lot of that is just simply about my food choices.

I think at your point, both are important but it's probably more important to make sure you're hitting calorie goals so your body can keep up.

As far as weight loss goes..calories are the most important factor. However, macros are just as important because they will determine your overall body composition as well as energy/hormonal levels. You just need to play around with the numbers and find what macros give you the most amount of energy, while retaining strength and fat loss.
