Peanut Butter Protein Bars
Yield: 16 bars
1/2 cup skim milk
1 cup natural-style peanut butter or 1 cup low-fat peanut butter
1 tablespoon honey
1 1/4-1 1/2 cups of whey protein powder (I use vanilla, but I'm sure chocolate would work too)
2 cups dry uncooked oatmeal (not quick cooking kind)
Directions:
1. Combine PB, honey and milk in a pot.
2. Warm over low heat.
3. Add the protein powder and mix well.
4. Add the oats.
5. You don't want to cook it, just warm it through so you can stir it.
6. Add more milk if it is too thick to stir.
7. Press in a 9" x 13" pan. ( I use an 8 x 8 pan)
8. Let the bars sit until cool, and cut into 16 equal sized bars.
9. Wrap each bar in foil or Saran wrap and store in plastic baggies. (I store in plastic containers in layers separated by parchment paper)
10. Refrigerate (original recipe says they don't need refrigeration, but I disagree.)
I have varied the recipe by adding a melted chocolate layer (yum), and adding rice crispies instead of oatmeal. I pretty much use what I have - this recipe is very adaptable!0 -

i just bought a vanilla protein powder... after reading all these i have buyers remorse for not ordering the chocolate!
Stick a spoon of cocoa powder and you're almost there.

Just made these today but substituted Silk original soymilk for the skim milk and Nutella for the PB. Holy cow, I was licking the pot and really glad no one was home!
I cut the recipe in half in case they sucked, so I made 8 bars at 180 cal each.0 -

See if you can find a natural flavour, I think Costco or other nutrition store will have them. I don't like the flavoured ones so this is what I use.
