So last monday I get seen for shin splints and the doc tells me I got fallen arches and that I need to get new shoes and supports for my work boots. She says the elliptical is fine until I can get the those so I get on the elliptical last week and the right outside of my knee starts killing me after about 10 min. Of course I'm a dumby and I push to 30 min then do it all over again the next day. After it hurting so bad I didn't even want to walk I decided to rest it. Tried to run today and once again I wanna chop off my knee (is that even possible?). Guess I'm doing weight circuit training for a while which sucks because I really love running.
Seems like I just need to cool it on using my legs until, at a minimum, I get my new shoes.

New shoes will do wonders as will inserts. I also have arch issues in addition to some back problems. I went down to a place my doctor recommend and got fitted correctly for good shoes. They not only measure your feet, but watch how you walk/run and talk to you about any foot pain or injuries you have had. I just started running 3 weeks ago I have not had any pain. Last year I tried to run and had foot, shin and ankle pain in shoes that I bought off the rack at Sport Authority. Also, if you have been running in the same shoes for a while then you are probably over due for a new pair anyway.

Oh, and icing your shins after working out may help also for a while.0
