I'm taking back control of my life, and it's great!

I started running in my local park and run/walking back from work about 4 weeks ago. It's awful, I only have horrible oversized t-shirts, my face puffs up like a sweaty tomato, my belly jiggles, my underwear takes on a mind of its own and I run like a llama with 3 legs - all different lengths.
It's taken me a lot of courage to keep going. People have shouted at me, called me fat, laughed at me etc. But you know what. last week I ran over two miles, twice! TWO blooming miles! Considering I could hardly walk to the bus a couple of months ago, I'm pretty chuffed about that.
Yesterday some 15 year old kid in the park started heckling me, for the first time ever I held my head up, looked him in the eye and said 'well at least I'm doing something about it', gave him the finger and jogged on (albiet slowly...). His mate high fived me as I ran past and told me I was looking good. Normally that kind of thing would really knock my confidence and for the next 6 months I'd become a hermit, wallowing in self pity, stuffing my face because a strange tennage boy called me fat.
Well not anymore. I feel SO excited that my fitness is improving this dramatically. Don't get me wrong, I still have my off days. But the good ones are overtaking the bad and the weight's shifting, slowly, but surely. I am taking back control of my life and there's nothing that anyone can say to stop me.
So heckle away boys! In 6 months time you'll be running after me and you can eat my dust!

That is awesome! I've noticed a big increase in confidence, too, since I started couch to 5k a couple of months ago. I've definitely learned to love it. Congratulations on the changes you're making0
