Instead of rice or pasta?

I'm making a shrimp and veggie stir-fry/pasta type of meal... shrimp and veggies with tomato sauce that was originally going to go on whole wheat pasta, but I'm not in the mood for pasta (and 2 ounces is not worth 180 calories to me), and I don't like rice:sick: . What else could I do with my shrimp/veggie/marinara sauce creation? The only idea I came up with was to have it in a whole wheat wrap (which I love:love: ).

Anyone have any better ideas? :flowerforyou:

Have you ever tried quinoa? It's a good sub for rice but doesn't taste exactly like it.

    yeah, quinoa is awesome!

    or...
you could cut zucchini into super thin strips and steam/boil it to make "zucchini pasta" way less calories than the real thing, but really yummy.

Haven't tried it... I will look for it next time I shop.

The zucchini is a good idea, too. I don't have any on hand right now, but I will keep that in mind!

Definitely spaghetti squash is good, and it's in season now (depending on where you are).

Grated cauliflower or zucchini are great in place of rice.

Spaghetti squash, zucchini, or eggplant, julienned worked work in place of pasta.
