I earned a C+

The gym I joined in April 2012 offers a "report card" for members who are over 50 y/o. I wanted to give myself a little time there before taking my first "test", so yesterday was the day...I joined on April 10 and since that time I have lost 27 lbs. by being faithful and exercising at least 5 days a week, most weeks at least some form of exercise every day. I have been faithful also on watching food intake, trying to eat more clean foods, and keeping portions in control. Consistency has been the key to my success!
Okay, so this test consisted of 4 key measurements for an overall GPA and this is how I scored:
BP=C+ My BP was 142/84, not great, but considering I am no longer on meds and this was my average BP when I was, I am good with it for now! There is always room for improvement and this will come with time and exercise.
Cholesterol=B- My overall cholesterol was good (160), my LDL was good at 101, my HDL puts me in high risk at only 32 which needs more work, my triglycerides are normal at 135, but could afford to come down some as this is a high-normal reading (just under borderline by 15 points.)
Glucose=A- This measurement makes me happiest, as my Grandma and my Dad both were diabetic (they both were diagnosed 20 years before they passed away.) This was the impetus for my weight loss and fitness program, along with lowering the risk of cancer. My reading was 90, again room for improvement is always there and I hope to bring this number down a bit more as I get healthier
NOW for the bad grade:
BMI=F Yep, you read that right...my BMI (38.47) earned me a solid F, and to think I have already lost 52 lbs (+ 4 before MFP for a total of 56) BEFORE I was brave enough to have this test done! LOL Okay, an F is not good, but what I will say is this~I choose to improve this grade every morning, every meal, every night, and every step! I have gone from around a BMI of 48 to my current BMI over the past 6 months, 2 weeks and 2 days. I am committed to keeping on this path, until I can say I have earned an A here and an A overall....and for the rest of my life!
I thank my MFP chums for being here for me, when I have questions, comments and concerns~you have inspired me, motivated me, entertained me and made this part of my journey an enjoyable walk/run and for your support and friendship, I am grateful!! My report card would be an overall F without you, friends! Celebrate C+ with me today!!

I think you have done fantastic! The weight loss you have achieved thus far, and no longer being on meds for BP is amazing!
The rest will come in time
You rock!0 -
Great job so far,,,,glad to hear this didn't mak eyou wan tto quit, but made you want to keep going to bring your levels down more....the glucose is normal at 90. I wouldn't aim for lower since the normal range is usually somewhere between 80-120 depending from lab to lab.0
