I go to bed around 9 or 10pm and wake up at the earliest at 5am, yet I am ALWAYS sleepy at work and I feel I could drop any second and I can barely function. I eat breakfast, my eating habit's are fine and I'm not PREGNATE or have any issues. my doctor prerscribed me sleeping medication, but I haven't had the need to take them because falling asleep is no issue, it's just waking up well rested is my problem; I never am.. i'm afraid if I go to bed earlier then I may wake up earlier and that's no good.

Wha'ts wrong with me and how can I fix it?

theres no way to take a nap during my breaks since I work in food service and most times there are no breaks.

jeez that is a tough one. Are you certain of the QUALITY of your sleep? Nightmares, smallest noises wake you, that sort of thing?

Ask your doctor about a "sleep test". You may have sleep apnea or some other sleeping issue.

I'll ask and no I'm not certain. Noise do wake me but it's pretty quiet here at night.

I checked out your diary, and it looks like some days you're way below goal. I know that when I don't eat enough calories I'm always super tired. Some other indications that I know I'm not getting enough calories/nutrients: 1.) I can't concentrate/irritable (lasts only a couple of days) 2.) I go #2 maybe once every three days (if your body doesn't get enough nutrients it slows down digestion in order to use resources elsewhere) and 3.) My body hair stops/slows down. I used to explain them as, "I'm dieting-everyone gets crabby on a diet...my body will get used to it" "It's so good I'm not pooping as much, I must be eating the correct amount of food that there is such little waste!" and well, the body hair I couldn't explain...I was just happy about it.

If you don't think it's a calorie deficit issue then try eating apples. Studies have shown that apples work better than caffeine to wake you up. I've worked food industry jobs for many years, and some allow you some time to snack on things in the kitchen while others are go-go-go.

Sounds like you are "reading my life" exactly. 8 to 10 hours sleep (when I can) and I still wake up tired and can't get through the day. With me, it is calorie and protein intake. Too litle protein, too little calories, and too many carbs makes me tired. I think that the too many carbs is a carb to starch to sugar issue though I am not diabetic. (not yet anyway). Bottom line, it is not just a accident that you are eating less and tired. It is apparently a balance of what you are eating. For me, I need more protein.
