Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if I have set a realistic goal for myself. I currently weigh 139 lbs and I am 5'6". I am 34 years old. I have set my goal at 125 lbs. Is this realistic? I'm a medium sized person.

Thanks :)
Carissa

    I just used a BMI (body mass index) calculator, and at your height, if you weighed 125, you would have a BMI of 20.2. The site I used gave this as the BMI ranges:
    * Underweight = <18.5
    * Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
    * Overweight = 25-29.9
    * Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

    But you could probably get a more realistic idea of whether that is a good goal for you by taking to a doctor or a personal trainer who can do a more accurate assessment of your body and how much you should weigh.

    P.S. At 139 lbs, you have a BMI of 22.4, which is also in the normal weigh range. Maybe you just need to tone or do weight training?
  • ^^^ I agree with Ali. With some weight training you will probably stay about the same weight, but look smaller and more toned. And go down a size or so. You're already in the healthy range.
