Peptic Ulcer - Has anyone ever had one of these?

Hi,

My doctor thinks I either have a peptic ulcer or gastritis. I had started having what I thought was heartburn about a 3 weeks ago. It was so painful. I never get heartburn so I wasn't sure but assumed it was that. Heartburn meds didn't work much. I went to the doctor after I had this for 5 days and was sent for bloodtests and a H-pylori test. At first the doctor was afraid it was my gallbladder. Blood tests came back normal except for an elevated allergy blood cell and the h-pylori test came back negative.

The doctor thinks I got this from taking too many advils. I had been taking quite a lot to deal with headaches and cramps over a long period of time. I think my stomach finally gave out.

It was incredibly painful in the nighttime about 2-3 hours after I ate and only in the upper part of my stomach where the duodenal is. So perhaps a duodenal ulcer instead of a gastric ulcer. I'm taking a medication similar to pantaloc to stop my stomach from producing so much acid and I think it coats my stomach or something. Anyhow, I think its finally working I have much less pain lately and can eat a few more things. At first i had to eat totally bland foods. Tried peanut butter one time and was in absoluate agony thru the night.

Anyhow, I'm getting an ultrasound tomorrow for further diagnosis. I do think I'm getting better though. Such pain!!!

Has anyone else had this?

Carissa

  • I do, the bad thing is when you feel "like" hungry when you are not, if you don´t put something in your stomach you will keep feeling like a hole inside (weird but true)
Stop Advil, the coffe the cigarrette and spicy food, Yogurth will help you1

Hi, oh yes no more advil for me. I haven't had any for about 3 weeks and I don't smoke. And I have to eat bland foods. I found that yes yogurt has helped me. Thanks for the advice. I know exactly what you mean about that hunger and the hole inside. Horrible!!
