Has anybody heard about the Fat Flush Diet Plan? I wonder if it really works. Some ladies I work with are doing it, and they are definitely losing weight. Just wanted to know if anyone is doing it now or has ever done it, and how they feel about it.

Yes - I love the Fat Flush. It is a diet that totally works and also leads you to a healthier style of eating. I have gone back to it several times but now I am just incorporating a lot of the recipes and principles rather than doing it strict.14

Where can you find this diet? I just want to see what it is.1

Looked it up. I wouldn't do it.
It has a very low recommended initial calorie intake, highly restricted fat intake, no dairy. Also, medical professionals question the validity of most detox diets as there is little empirical evidence to suggest that any detoxification occurs.
Quote:
Phase 1 – 2 weeks
This is a restrictive phase of between 1100-1200 calories per day. The intention here is to “lose bloat” – which refers to reducing water retention as well as some fat loss. In this phase you are not allowed to eat; margarine, alcohol, sugar, oils or fats (except flaxseed oil), grains, bread, cereal, starchy vegetables, dairy products. Even the herbs and spices are restricted to a small list.
Eating this way, you are not going to be losing just fat. First week, a lot of your loss will be water weight. As you continue with this your body will go into a catabolic state. In plain English, this means your body will be in survival mode since you would be eating an amount that would be less than your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR), which is the bare minimum your body requires for essential functions and maintenance of active tissue (e.g. your muscles). The body has to get the energy someplace to make up the difference, so it will scavenge it from your body - from both fat AND muscle - indiscriminately. Since RMR is based is based on the maintenance of active tissue, and fat requires no energy for maintenance, you will have effectively lowered your RMR since you have now decreased the amount of muscle tissue in your body.
Quote:
Phase 2 – Ongoing
Here the calorie allowance is lifted – to 1200-1500 calories. The idea is to continue on with the program until the desired weight loss is achieved.
Still eating below most healthy individuals' RMR. You will be continuing pushing your body into that catabolic state mentioned above. Losing weight, sure...losing muscle mass, definitely. I saw that they talk about exercise too, but if your body is busy tearing itself down in survival mode, it can't build capacity no matter how much you exercise it.
Quote:
Phase 3 – The maintenance phase
Essentially a weight maintenance phase, with a caloric intake of 1500 calories or over. Some starchy carbs are gradually re-introduced, along with gluten-free grains, and some dairy.
Now comes the fun part. After starving your body, and lowering your RMR, you're now starting to eat at what your RMR might have been when you started. Funny thing is, because you've now lost muscle along with the fat and water, your RMR is now lower and your body is much more efficient with whatever calories you put into it. When normal consumption is resumed the weight quickly rebounds because the body is now burning fewer calories to sustain itself.
Still sound like a good idea?11 -
I love it, have lost over 50 pounds on it. And the exercise tips, with the rebounder, are great. You only have to do the limited diet for a couple of weeks, you just are restricted from caffeine, sugar and salt at that time. I am on phase 3 now. I never go over 1200 calories anyways. You get healthy meats, eggs, fruits and vegetables, and I really like the cranwater. Have to force myself to eat all of it sometimes.25

New people resurrecting zombie threads. why does this always happen? This can't be a coincidence. I suspect these wacko diet threads get bumped up on purpose, probably because they are so outrageous.
Most likely they search for a thread on a subject of interest, find one, and then reply to it without noticing when the last post happened.4 -

MFP needs to set their robots.txt file correctly to keep Google from indexing these forums for searches that don't originate on MFP.6

What is this?
Anyway, the only way to flush fat from your body is to take Alli and then flush it down the turlet. It'll probably take more than one flush, then some scrubbing bubbles for the residue.0 -

Um, how about don't resurrect zombie threads and rely on good old-fashioned calorie counting instead?7 -
If people have the willpower and dedication to follow and stick to these strict diet plans, then plain and simple calorie counting would be a doddle for them...2

What is it about the “fat flush diet” that you feel helps you eat healthy and get proper nutrition, that you weren’t getting with weight watchers or with using MFP to set a reasonable calorie target and track macros to achieve your goals?3 -

It's because they haven't discovered "recent" posts yet and are just wandering through the boards.1
