So hungry! HELP!!!!!

I feel like I'm hungry ALL THE TIME, even when I know I'm not. I get hunger like pains in my stomach.... So I eat =( Ive tried gum, mints, sugar free jolly ranchers, and butt loads of water. Any one else with this problem? If so, how do you handle it? Any suggestions or tips will be greatly appreciate

***edit***

Many people has said to make my diary public, but I can't. It keeps asking for a code, Ive reported this problem to MFP and hopefully they will be able to fix it soon.

Make your dairy public so we can see what you are eating.

Yeah make the diary public. Also gum is no good for hunger because it produces saliva and your stomach will rumble thinking you're going to swallow some food. Water is good so keep drinking that, but sipping as gulping it can give you cramps.

cold water drains out of your stomach faster so its good for hydrating you ... warm water stays in your stomach making you feel full longer ...

try fibre supplements ... but its my guess you are an emotional eater and somthing has got you down!

What the others have said... You need to make public your diary so that others can help you out more on advice.

Snacking. I snack throughout the day because I had that problem. I have my breakfast and then 2 hours later I have a small snack (fruit or baby carrots with hummus or almonds). Lunch, then like 2-3 snacks before dinner. I also try to drink 2 bottles of water in between my big meals. I use a mix to put in my water just because I can't stand plain water. Try it! Also, let us see your diary so we have a better idea of what you are already eating

I had the same problem, so now I try to have a high protein breakfast, then tons of fruit and veggies through the day :)

This. Chances are that you're not eating enough of the right things (protein and fiber) to keep you satisfied.

And try to distract yourself. Go for walks, pick up a hobby, stay busy somewhere that is not the kitchen (unless you can manage not to eat).

Eat veggies! Alot of veggies and fruit, and protien.
when you hungry, pull some red peppers out, some hummus and bam! Snack is served! Make sure you weigh your hummus though
  • A fitness trainer has said to drink warm or room temperature water to help you feel full and cold water helps you loose weight. Not sure if that is true or not or if it helps.

Make sure you're getting enough fiber, protein, and healthy fats--helps fill you up and keep you satisfied longer. Also, if you eat back your exercise calories, that should help too. Good luck!

I wouldn't have though gum would help at all....all that chewing might make your tummy think you're about to feed it when you're not...?

At certain times of the month I'm like that. I find a chilli raw helps or just takes my mind off it, not sure which as I'm trying to put out the fire LOL! If that fails I have berries and natural yogurt, this seems to fill me up.

You don't know how to fix it? How about eating enough to fuel your activity? I certainly hope you are eating more than 1200 a day while doing all those workouts.

when I feel like this I have a piece of string cheese & some almonds or apple w/ peanut butter. Just eat something small that has protein. Its a snack not a meal!

Without knowing what you are eating, I'd say increase the amount of fat in your diet. Fat is especially filling and takes longer to digest, making that full feeling last longer. And unlike the idiotic ideas perpetuated by the government in the last 30 years, dietary fat is not what causes obesity, and it has been unfairly vilified. That said, the type of fat is still important - it is healthier to use more plant based fats (like plant oils, nuts, avocado, etc) and less saturated fats (meat, cheese, and dairy).

Not being able to see your diary I am not sure what advice to offer, but maybe you really are just not eating enough. Feel free to take a look at my diary for any ideas that might help it's public and good luck :)

I went through the same thing, and you won't like hearing this.
You need to just punch through, buck up and gut it out.
People will give the usual worthless advice here: drink more water, eat celery, time your meals...blah...blah...blah
NOTHING will stop those hunger pains but time and your willingness to push through.
In a week or so, they will cease.
Just decide now to SUCK IT UP!
You will be glad you did.

Show your diary...like everyone else said.

The types of food you eat can make your body go on a hunger roller coaster. If you eating high sugar, high carb or high fat with small amounts of protein it can make your body have a super high then CRASH! your hungry again. Balance girl. :)
  • ive tried making my diary public and it keeps telling me I need a code =( but my daily(not the same every day) foods are eggs, cheese sticks, turkey sandwichs, health smart popcorn, chicken(never fried), coffee no creamer and equal, low calorie snacks (like 90 calorie smore bars, 100 calorie cookie packs), oatmeal, cottage cheese, broccolli (daily, i love it), and pasta roughly 2x a week.

I dont eat fast food, I purposely leave my debit card and cash at home when I'm out running around. I dont drink regular sodas only diet (only with dinner).

I felt like that when I tried Weight Watchers last year. For me, it was like I was telling myself I was on a diet and couldn't eat what I wanted, all the freaking time. So food was all that I thought about, and so I was hungry all the time. With MFP, I haven't had that problem. I'm eating what I want, but with moderation. (example, last night, we took the kids to chuckee cheese; I had three slices of pizza. Did I have to work my butt off for those slices, yes, but I was still under my calorie goal for the day so it's all good) Even though you're "dieting" you can eat the foods that you enjoy. If you're eating what you enjoy (some of the time) you won't spend all day thinking about food I'm assuming. And it is okay to eat the calories you're burning - just don't go over your calorie intake.

You don't happen to be bored or sad or something during the day, do you? I find when I'm busy I don't really think about eating and don't feel hungry, but if I'm not, I feel SO hungry all day.

I actually try to stay around 1300 cal. Isn't that the point of that goal or am I doing it wrong? I do high protein and try to eat my carbs if I'm gonna have any, with breakfast.
  • Make sure you are eating protein and not just carbs. Avoid sugar and drink lots of water. You may want to start eating smaller meals every 4 hours during the day (making sure to have protein and complex carbs). This works for me:smile:

I think gum, mints and sugar free jolley ranchers count as food. I'm pretty sure those are considered candy.

I would guess with the weight lifting and cardio that you should be up 300-500 calories a day in what you eat. There is already a deficit built in on MFP and when you add the workouts in, you can build a very dangerous deficit. If you eat 1300 and exercise 500, you are effectively giving your body 800 calories a day to work with. You are hungry because your body needs the calories. Weight lifting can greatly increase the amount of calories a day you need. Check out the group eat more to lose to get some more information.
