Most weight loss experts advise that you should only weigh in once a week, same time of day, same day each week. I weigh myself every morning (same time each day), so I see more weekly fluctuations. The times I have tried going a whole week between weigh-ins I always gain weight--something about that loss of daily accountability, I guess.
Just curious as to what other people find effective--every day? every week? Or do you rely more on measurements to judge how your weight loss is going?

I weigh in daily. I feel like I'm holding myself more accountable for the number. I understand that there are sometimes BIG fluctuations in weight (Monday I was 5 lbs heavier than I was on Tuesday), but it has also helped me notice things about my habits and the number on the scale. I understand that losing the water weight isn't losing the fat, but the lower number on the scale each day motivates me to keep going for that day, or if the number is higher, I know I need to drink a bit more water. I was heavier Monday because I didn't drink a lot of water over the weekend, then Tuesday I was lighter because I was properly hydrated.
Noticing this has helped me stay motivated and think more about what I am eating and drinking

Thanks for posting--glad I'm not the only one who feels that daily weigh ins are not always a bad thing!
Interestingly, I find that if I get off track, it usually takes two days to show up on the scale. In other words, my snack-a-thon last Sunday afternoon didn't hit the scale until Tuesday, even though I stuck to my goals on Monday. Fascinating stuff!0 -
Every morning after using the bathroom. I need to know how certain behaviors affect my weight fluctuation, such as drinking beer (amazingly, does not affect it at all) and eating sodium (lot of water weight gained)0

Chinese food makes mine zoom up, even if it is one of the "healthier" dishes. MSG ... sigh ...0

Pretty much every day, except Monday after a camping/out of town weekend (which is nearly every weekend in the summer). I know it's going to be up on Monday, so I skip that day.
I like seeing it daily, and know it will fluctuate based on what I have eaten, how much water I've had, etc. It keeps me on track.0 -
There are definitely days that I avoid the scale, too! Wow--107 pounds down--AMAZING!!0
