maintain weight during an injury

Hi. I've been very active running and doing insanity and have felt the best I've felt in a few years. Last night I hurt my knee (hoping it's nothing but a bad sprain) and am feeling so discouraged already. The only way I've been able to stick to the 1200 calories/day is by exercising and getting the extra 300-400 calories. Wondering if anyone has experience staying motivated and "on track" during a set-back injury. Any tips on staying on the 1200 calories during an injury and not being able to add exercise calories? I just don't want to go back to bad habits and to gain weight when I've been working so hard. Very discouraged- any help/advice.

NEVER feel bad about not meeting calorie goals during an injury. In fact, I encourage you to eat more while recovering. Your body will be using a bit extra energy naturally to heal you.

Eating too little during recover will hurt you more than eating a bit over. Your health is more important than the extra 1/2 pound you might lose had you not been injured.

I broke my knee cap in December - I used to run and work out 1 day a week with a trainer. Couldn't even walk - got a little depressed but I started doing upper body workouts - I also used to be able to stand for a litte bit and started using gloves and hitting punching bag. I did gain 12 pounds (could have been worse I was miserable)

but - now I'm back almost 100% do what you can until you get better would be worse to injure yourself worse.
