My Recommendation - Take a Before Photo!!!

Hi MFP members,
So, recently I found a photo that I took when I was at my heaviest in 2004. I took it back then because I knew I needed to lose weight and wanted a photo wearing something that would remind me of how I actually look when not hiding myself in my clothes. I chose a little pink bikini, that I never wore in public but just couldn't throw away (I love pink!!!)...
So 8 years later, and 10kgs lighter (5kgs in the past 11 weeks using MFP), I still have the same bikini I used in my before photo, so took another picture to compare. The results are amazing, I can't believe the difference and the places where I never really thought about being fat are now transformed.
So with this photo evidence, I now realise how good I am actually looking now

Yep, I took before pictures as well...And I just this week took new ones, 3 months in, 12 lb lost. I'll take pics again in 3 months.
And congrats on your weight loss! :drinker:0 -
I avoid the camera as much as possible. Im so scared to take a before picture due to the following reasons:
-wouldnt want anyone to see it....right now anyway
-what if i dont drop the weight...I sure as heck dont want the constant reminder
-who in the world am I going to get to take it for me?
-I really really really dont want to see what I look like right now, it would send me into a great depression.
Encourage me...please0 -
Congrats on the loss, you are looking great! Great advice. Great post.
I took photos of myself when I first started. I hated the way I looked, I still am not happy with how I look but I'm getting better. I keep taking progress pictures so I know that I'm losing so when I freak out about the scale I can still look back and say "yeah I'm getting there."
@chunkydunk714 your following reasons can be changed because:
-You should have a bench mark of when you started so you can inspire others when you've reached your goals. There are people that want to see you when you started and where you are now.
-If you have a reminder then it can help you stay focused and try harder.
-You can find a mirror and take a picture of yourself or you can do the holding the camera a bit away from you to take it of yourself. Even just a face picture is a good standard to go by in this process because everything on your body changes.
-Just taking a picture doesn't mean you have to look at it. If you don't use it as a motivator then put it in a file somewhere so when you feel you are doing better then you can brave your picture. It feels really good to see how far you've come. (Depression sucks, I know from experience. Exercising, eating right, and finding friends helps so much. But the biggest thing that's going to help is facing what you have to do to feel better instead of pushing it away.)
Oh and side note, you are where I want to be right now! How is that for encouragement lol. Keep going you can do it.0 -
@s1lence thank you I'm going to use the pictures that were taken of me at my daughters birthday party yesterday....def. going to file it away until i lose 20 pounds! Dont want to be looking at that anytime soon0

Hey chunkydunk I took the before photo with the self timer on my camera and didn't really look at it much. I just knew it was there for the future, and now I am really happy that I did as I didn't realise how much my body had changed until I put the photos side by side0
