Fitness 19

Does anyone belong to a Fitness 19 gym? We got a flier the other day advertising either no money down to sign up, or $8 a month with no contract.
This intrigues me because I really don't like gyms, but it would be nice to have a back up plan this winter for when I get bored with my bike trainer. For $8 a month I wouldn't worry about spending unnecessary money for something I can do for free at home, and even if I hardly ever go I'm not wasting that much money.
But I was hoping to get the dish from someone who goes there before I subject myself to the sales pitch. Any idea how much the sign up fee is if you choose the $8/month? Is there a good selection of equipment? Do you like it?

I've used them before and loved them. their personal trainers are cheap to. the only downside is that they are small gyms and don't have any type of special classes.0

My friend has been bugging me to go with her. She really likes it, but doesn't go very often. For that deal, it might be worth signing up just to try.
Thanks for posting, I have to check that out!0 -
New fitness clubs always offer good pre-opening incentives. You just have to read the fine print and decide what is best for you. Normally, the super low monthly rate requires a longer-term commitment.
As someone else wrote, they are kind of bare-bones facilities. That's not necessarily a bad thing. If you start out when the club opens, naturally they are going to have new equipment. I don't know what their replacement policies are, or how their traffic patterns are planned (e.g. availability might be limited during peak hours because of too-few pieces). I do know that they use top line manufacturers like Life Fitness, Precor, etc. (Don't know if they put in their top models--that I doubt).
Basically, there is nothing inherently bad that you have to beware of--the rest is just you deciding whether or not they meet your needs.0 -
id say jump on that $8 a month. you may never see it again! im paying $30 a month for 24 hour fitness, way more, but totally worth every penny!0

Yes I did and after 6mons canceled my membership. The place was clean! Had tons of equipment and free weights in addition to many classes. However, every time I went there was a sea of people! When I work out, I do not want to wait for a machine, or weights or bump into anyone. I want to go, get my workout out of the way and leave. This was not the place for me. I then joined another club that was $10 more a month and I've been with them for 4 years now. Love it!!! Never crowded, great classes and I can get in, get my workout done and leave without bumping into anyone.
My advice is to ask for a free week so you can see if you like it. $8 is not a lot of money if you use the place but it can add up to an unneeded expense if you never go.0
