Hi all. Just found this site and have been working with it for about a week. It has kept me motivated, but it has only been a week: I have a fair amount of weight to lose (100 lbs-yikes) and would like to join one of the teamso n this site (over 200 or halfers) but do not know how to do this-- can someone point me in the right direction? Also I am type II diabetic on lantus insulin and am finding it hard to lose weight after I started the insulin (1 month). BS are in better control, but have not dropped a pound in a month eating ~ 1000 calories/day (I am very sedentary and starting water aerobics). What has worked for others?
Cheers!

Welcome! Don't get discouraged - 100 pounds is possible. I started mid January, and look where I am! Read my profile - I wasn't sure it was possible either. I am also a diabetic, but don't take insulin, just pills. I would recommend following whatever calories MFP sets up for you, but check with your dietician. I set mine up saying that I want to lose 2 pounds a week, have followed it pretty faithfully, and found it to work. Water aerobics are fun and a great way to exercise and socialize. I swim laps for quite a bit of my exercise. When I started, for the first few weeks, I just walked for 20 or 30 minutes every other day to get started. Anyway, you can do this! Let me know if you need encouragement.

When you're on the message boards, go to the technical support section at the bottom. The first thread is "How to add a ticker". Good luck! Let us know if you get it.0

Hi Patrice,
Welcome to MFP
All you have to do to join a team is to start posting on the team's thread. Just tell them that you're joining, read the posts, reply to what you've read, post about yourself and your goals and your questions and before long, you'll feel like the people on the thread are your new friends and you'll care about them and they'll care about you.
Take it one day at a time
Take baby steps
Drink a lot of water
Be open minded to new ideas.
And never, never,never give up0 -
