New - Need Motivation

I am new to this site. I see all the wonderful success stories, and I hope I can do just as well. I just started trying to lose weight (again) on Monday, and so far so good. The hardest part is coming up though. I have issues with the weekends. I always want to eat more then. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi!

Welcome to MFP! Sounds like you're off to a great start!

I think you'll really like it here -- there are great tools for tracking your food (that was a huge eye-opener for me), for tracking your exercise (those food-calorie numbers really motivated me to start exercising...the more I exercise, the more I may eat), AND a great community of MFPals who will support you and understand your challenges!

So what is it about the weekends that makes you want to eat more? More leisure time means you spend more time near the kitchen? Or do you go out to restaurants on the weekend? Or what?

More important, what are the reasons behind wanting to get fit and drop some pounds? The motivation from that should be considered every time you plan a meal, or face an UNplanned eating choice. I also gauge things by how many additional minutes of exercise -- beyond what I had already planned to do -- it would take me to make up for a stupid piece of chocolate fudge cake (40 lousy minutes!) or slice of pizza.

A good strategy is to plan your meals and your exercise in advance. That will make it easier to stick to your goal, and also help you recognize when you're faced with things that might take you beyond your calorie target.

Best wishes to you! Feel free to add me if you're looking to expand your MFPal list.
