You can't spot burn, you can only do fat burning workouts and observe proper nutrition and watch it disappear from off your body as a whole.0

Yeah, situps will only build the muscle under the layer of fat on the gut. If you want to lose your gut first and foremost it starts with your diet. Second of all you have to build muscle across your whole body, this will help burn fat even when you're not working out. Last would be some high intensity interval training. Put all of that together and you'll see it melt off.0

Diet is most important in getting rid of belly fat. If there's little belly fat and you just need to tone, the exercises will do it. But if there is excess fat, that will have to be burned off through diet, then exercise. When I say diet, I'm not referring to strictly caloric deficit (because I don't know if you have a goal to lose weight as well). I mean making sure your diet includes healthy unsaturated fats and quality protein sources. I find that excess sugar and grains fuel my potbelly. Find out what your trigger foods are and try to reduce intake of those. I bloat like crazy when I consume a lot of sugar and bread. My tummy is tame when I consume a healthy portion of probiotic-containing products (kefir, yogurt) and keep my protein intake up to a decent level.
As for target exercises, I like planks, reverse crunches, oblique twists. Walking at a brisk pace regularly and also a few minutes of HIIT cardio help melt that fat.
Good luck! You can do it.0
