I am thinking about getting a heart rate monitor. I don't want to spend too much money. What is the best kind?:noway:

There are tons a reviews on this.. you can get a cheaper one that ONLY tells you your heart rate (not calories burned) - which defeats the purpose in my mind. I bought the Polar F6 (for $100) and I love it! Granted, when the batteries die I will have to get a replacement chest band and for the watch, I will have to send it in to get it replaced, but still - I love it. :) From the reviews I have read, Polar is pretty good with replacing too and then it's guaranteed to still be waterproof for 30ft.

Why wouldn't you just replace the battery ?

I think if you change the batteries yourself, it voids the warranty on the watch.

With the polar, if you do that you chance the watch not being water proof anymore -therefore you fry it if you decided to swim with it, or maybe even run in the rain. I wouldn't mind investing $15 - $20 in my watch every couple of years to change the battery. As for the chest strap, it is completely sealed, so you would have to physically cut into it to change the battery and glue pieces back on - once again removing water proofing. I wouldn't want something like that strapped to my chest anyway.
