I started this weight loss journey doing atkins- but I've found that it isn't for me , and honestly it just ISN'T realistic . So i've decided to take a meat/veggies/fuit/water approach. Has anyone else done this sort of diet and if so how has it worked for you? Any pointers or recipe ideas? Do's /don'ts or any other advice you would like to give!?

Please helpppp, i'm trying to find the best diet for me !

Add me if you'd like, as well :)

  • Really just follow your calorie intake per day and excercise 30 mins a day and i promise it will work, i lost 40lbs in a month and half then got off of MFP and gained it all back. Just stay within your calories and workout. The healthier you eat the more food you can consume on a daily basis. Best of luck to you in your journey.

Im doing that diet right now, only I eat eggs and have one coffee a day. :)
Its really good because you can eat a massive plate of veggies and it will only be around 200 cals. :D

I recommend six small meals a day of about 200 each, then about 100 cals for snacks. Otherwise, like me, you just have your three meals and realize that you've only eaten 700 or something calories, which could slow your metabolism right down and make you fatter.

The steam fresh packs of veggies you get for the microwave are my best friend at the moment, really quick to cook. :)
Green tea is also good, I know its not water but it can speed up your metabolism and is nice once you get used to it.

Make sure you have 1 day where you eat something special weather a bowl of pasta or a chocolate bar, otherwise u could break ur diet and engorge on every bad food in the room. >.< (Im sure you already knew that tho, so I'll shut up now, LOL)

Its all comes down to exercise, calorie intake, and will power. You don't need an “I only am going to eat this” plan. I will be eating a twix bar in about 20 min and as long as I am under my calories and exercise every day, I know I am fine. Why restrict yourself when it won’t change anything. Use food as a motivation and reward. I take Sundays off for instance and I eat whatever as long as I am under 1700 calories or so on but I am exercising a lot like 1-3x a day too so I have a higher intake for calories (I am including walking in this too so its not all balls to the wall :). Find something that you like, and stick with it. If you don’t then find something else. Listen to your body and eat 6 meals a day if you need it. If not eat less meals and make them larger. Its all about you here. Instead of picking a diet plan made for someone else, make your own or go with one and tailor it for you.

GREAT advice!! Thank you :) It's kinda a relif to know that I can still have tasty things I love and it won't kill me as long as i'm under calories! :)

Anytime! I was worried at first too about sugar and carbs and protein and fat and which diet I should do. I started listing too the people on MFP that have been around and posted ALOT and did some research, one study shows one thing the other the complete opposite so there is no point its mostly about opinions. I choose to listen to those who have a really nice and buff body and really its all about calories in and calories out. Even tried to follow the p90x the other day since I started their dvd’s thought I would give their nutrition a go. Yah that lasted until 11 am then I binged all day. I know myself better, so I went back to what I was doing. However if you eat crap all day you will feel like crap so keep that in mind everything in moderation. But reward yourself and have fun. I promised myself that if I hit 4k strides and 2 miles walked before lunch (i have a fitbit and walk on my breaks) then I would get a Twix bar. :) Works for me.... now go have fun and fund out what works for you!

Really, all you need to do is follow MFP. You just need a calorie deficit. Make this a lifestyle change. Can you really see yourself doing this for the rest of your life??? Just meat/fruits/veggies? What are you going to do when you want to have popcorn while watching a movie? Cake at a friend's wedding? Pizza at a party? By simply counting calories, you can allow yourself those things, while still losing weight.

Here's how I look at it: Calories are like money. Every week, I get a paycheck. I spend 80% of that paycheck on things I need (mortgage, car payment, paying bills, groceries, savings, etc). Then, I take the 20% left over and I can spend it on things I want (movie tickets, saving for a vacation, a new outfit, etc). I get what I want and what I need. I'm happy.
With calories - spend 80% on healthy stuff. Then, you have 20% left over for what you want. It's that simple.
