So I was raised to think butter is better then margarine... because of the hydrolized crap that margarine is made from.

However, i know it has lots of calories.

What do you use as "butter"? Is there a non-hyrodolized margarine out here?

I do avoid butter when possible... but tonights corn on the cob made me think of this question.

Thanks for the answers! -Cara

Butter is better than margarine, but Earth Balance margarine is trans-fat free.

Butter is awesome, and for me, there is no substitute!

That being said, there are instances where I use a healthier choice, such as subbing olive oil for it in one of my favorite chicken recipes, and using coconut oil instead of butter on my popcorn. But on my toast, on my garlic bread, and on my corn on the cob - gotta be butter.

A 100 calorie tablespoon of natural butter here and there is a far better choice than any margarine or 'fake' butter in my book.

If I'm not using butter then I'm on the Supafry 100% animal fat or coconut oil.

I use Organic Coconut oil with a pinch of sea salt en lieu of salted butter. For me, it tastes like the real thing.

I also use I can't believe it's not butter spray . . . not often, but it helps. A bottle lasts my hubby and I about a year.

I keep butter in the house, but a box of 4 sticks lasts us well over 4 months.
