I write poems and I've been looking into writing research essays and non-fiction books.
  • I've selfpublished my first and am editing my second.

I hate promoting...but take a look, like my page, buy my book! :)

I just liked your page :) I'll try and download your book on my IPad later. Congrats! I'm hoping to self-publish next year.

In fact, I have a website: www.dontbecoy.net, which is a free sampling of my erotic art and literotica. Since we're throwing stuff out there - LOL

Awesome, thank you! If you download mine, I'll buy yours when you publish! It's always awesome to meet other authors and to be able to support them. :)

I'm working to set up my own web site for my books. I have yet to find any place that will publish for free (free meaning not charge me $700 for their special software *coughAmazoncough*).

Um, I published through createspace.com to Amazon for free. There are other sites that do it also. Smashwords is another. If you do the research, it's out there. :) No software required to format.

Working on an adult Vampire trilogy. And I mean adult as in non-Twilight and closer to Bram Stoker's Dracula, updated, of course.

I was so excited to see this topic!!

This is my dream of all dreams...to become a published author and be able to say "I"m a writer." I have a blog which is what an author told me to do years ago...it's mainly just "day in the life" kind of stuff but it's getting me in the habit of sitting down and making myself do it. I've been away from family most of my adult life so the blog started out just as a way to keep my family and extended family up to date on our adventures. Our life is an adventure!

I love to write non-fiction...I feel like that's where I would do my best and once I get started, I'm never at a loss for words. On my blog, I have a hard time limiting my character count to something that people will actually read...I think if a post is too long people won't bother to read it so I try to keep them short but it never happens. LOL

Anyway...add me if you would PUSH me to write more or if you know what my next steps should be! LOL I have no clue.

I am a writer! And thanks for making this post. It's never occurred to me to look for other writers on here, but totally makes sense. I write mostly poetry, but dabble in short stories and have an off-site blog. I wrote a book once many years ago, but I've never published it. I have ideas for other great ones. Maybe a few writers all my friends list will inspire me more!

Writers, feel free to add me!!!

Great post!! I'm an author. I've written and published two books with a royalty publisher, Destiny Image. I'm working on my third book. They're all part of a series about a CRAZY two year period that I lived in India with a Hindu guru.

The series is called The Descent Series. Book 1 is Chasing the Avatar and Book 2 is Dancing with the Avatar. I don't have a name for the 3rd book. I'm 375 pages in and have hit a wall. So, I stopped writing until God gives me inspiration again.

And I agree, the writing is the easy thing...promoting is a bear!! It's SUCH work! If only I had known...I don't know if I would've gone on with it. Even with a royalty publisher, it's A LOT of work.

You can check out my books at my website at: http://www.jovanjones.com and also at Barnes and Noble, Amazon- http://www.amazon.com/Jovan-Jones/e/B0050OHUPO/ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1?qid=1342743575&sr=8-1 - and else where.

Thanks for posting this topic!! It's great meeting all these writers!

    I'll check it out!

It occurred to me to promote here, but I HATE it. At one point, it took over my life, and I stopped writing altogether for awhile b/c I'd become OCD and kind of pushed my family to the background.

Not the kind of author I want to be.

I'm taking a much more laidback approach to it now.

I have had a few short stories and poems published locally. I'd love to be able to make it a career or at least a side job. It is always enjoyable to do something you love and get paid for it. Best of luck to everyone!

I have been writing since I was 10. Started working on novels about 7 years ago, have 5 50k novels written and in rewrite mode, and have 5 novels that I am working on simultaneously right now, depending on what mood I am in.

I have eleven books published. I'm represented by BookEnds literary agency and am published with Harlequin and Samhain Publishing. In February, my 12th book will be released through Random House and in May-ish (the release date keeps getting moved) my 13th book will be released through Random House.

I recently (finally) started working on my first novel. It's definitely more than I bargained for, but it's damn exciting to be hammering out character profiles and watching the story take on a life of it's own.

I wish! I have at least an idea and hopefully one day in the future I will write some horror trilogy or something like that. My son has a bad type of Muscular Dystrophy so I also want to write a book based on that and what it's like as a parent to watch your child go through this.

Hi nice to meet you. I'm still at work on a novel I've been working on for 17 years now. Middle Earth wasn't built in a day so why should I rush? I've been writing since I was 9. I discovered J.R.R. Tolkien "The Hobbit'. While reading I decided this was what I wanted to do. I've been doing this since.
