I am trying to figure out the best way to measure the calories that I burn. I downloaded MapMyRun/Ride for my phone but it shows me more calories then if I put it into MyFitnessPal. What is the best way to measure it?

I like using Endomondo for my outside jogging. It's close to what myfitnesspal estimates.

I still think that calories are grossly overestimated with the different apps. My treadmill shows nowhere near the calories burned when I put the same info here on MFP. They are always much more than what the treadmill shows. It's confusing and frustrating at best. I tend to err on the side of caution so i always put down the lowest number.

A HRM will always be much more accurate then any app or machine.
Can pick them up reasonably cheap too.

I'm saving up for a HRM. My husband has used one for years. I think that is the best way to measure calories burned.

I do find that MFP gives way too many calories burned for exercise. I downloaded the free app Run Keeper, and use it's numbers for calories burned. I also use loseit.com, and Run Keeper and it agree much more than MFP.
