Sodium...

Alright--I'm new to the forum--been using this MFP a couple weeks (and my fitbit for a bit longer)--and I've been cool with my progress so far. I'm trying to eat better--but the only thing I focus on is are my calories (my fitbit gets my exercise-which usually is just walking), and not my protein\fat\carb ratios or any other suggested numbers.
Looking at my intake reports though--I'm way over my suggested intake (see pickles, beef jerky, popcorn, Italian dressing etc...). After eating better and losing some weight, my BP is no longer in the "borderline" regions, but I also started drinking a lot more water and was wonder if water consumption could offset the negative effects of sodium? Too good to be true? Thanks in advance.
