Weight gain and weightlifting...

I started lifting heavier on Monday the 9th. I have completed 5 lifting sessions. I give myself one or two days recover and walk or do intervals on my off day. My diet hasn't changed with the exception of adding a protein shake on my lifting days (130 calories). I have gained 4 pounds...I upped my water intake thinking I was retaining water, and ...nothing changed. I powerlifted before children (been 6 years), and my body has great "muscle memory," but is it truly possible to gain 4 pounds of muscle mass in two weeks? Or are the muscles just retaining water?
Thanks...
Thanks...

for a female who is not on steroids....no.....would be impressive even for a male on steroids.
bit of muscle memory. bit of water/glycogen retention, don't stress it.0 -
Thanks Hendrix...I'm second guessing everything I do these days. I always do when I change up my routine.0
