So I have lost close to 40 pounds:) From the hips down I look great. From the bellybutton up I look great. Problem is,,,the muffin top in my jeans which are now 2-3 sizes smaller. For you fitness experts ....I walk or hike 6 miles day and do dumbellls 3 days a week? Is there an exercise I should be doing? Maybe Im just neglecting that whole area? Or when I have no fat left to lose, it will eventually have to come from somewhere and come from there?? For you Moms, is there any tricks other than spanx? Al the new jeans are so darn low waisted:( The muffin top is not a pretty sight:(

A "muffin top" in the classic sense of the word just means that you are wearing pants that are too small! I suspect that what you mean is just that you have belly fat that you'd like to lose. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as spot reduction, so you will just have to try to burn fat overall and hope that it will eventually come off where you want it to!

    ^^^ This.

You just need to lose fat... and buy pants that fit you properly.

Yes you can not spot reduce but you can do more core exercises and watch what you are eating. As the saying goes Abs are 80% diet 20% gym. Clean eating is the key. For exercises I love planks, push ups, all kinds of sit ups. I have also found Hip Hop Abs to be fun and it's standing up ab routines. Oh and I also like Tracy Anderson's Mat exercises

Couldn't have said it better myself. If you you have excess fat in your waistline, you'll need to lose weight.

I know exactly what you are saying and am having the same issue. The problem isn't the pants being too small - it's that our fat is sticking around there too long (have to work all over to lose fat, can't spot reduce) and that your pants may be too low rise. Look for a mid-rise pant (harder to find in styles we like - or so I think). Not "mom jeans" but just higher than jeans from the Junior's section that show your butt crack when you squat down. That will help camoflage it while your body works on buring that area off. Keep plugging away at your workout and don't forget to mix it up after 6 weeks to avoid plateauing.

Thats exactly it! The pants are not too small...but after a c-section for triplets and muscles cut it doesnt matter how skinny I get, I still have the spill over (no matter what size pant) because all the jeans are made with lo rise waist:((( Frustrating

I don't believe it is becuase your pants are too small... If I went up a pants size, I would be HIKING my pants up all freaking day long. I had twins via csection and have alot of extra skin that is just not going to go away.. I find some tops and pants styles flatter me more so I tend to stick to those...

Another thought is you may have diastasis recti.-basically an abdominal separation that pregnant women can get. Where I live there is a place you can go to get checked and then they have a "plan" they out you on. I had friends with this as I somehow avoided it. They have you were a wrap for a while and then give you specific exercises for it. I am sure your doctor could also check. Google shows how to do it yourself but I am one of those I'd rather be sure :-)
