I recently joined and am looking for a really good support group. Not sure where to start, especially with information overload out there on the internet, magazines and TV.
I have been saying for years that I needed to lose weight and just have not had the discipline or motivation to do so. I recently went to the doctor for my annual check up and everything is well within guidelines. Low blood pressure, good and bad fats are perfect, low cholesterol, sugar, etc. The only thing that is wrong is my weight and Vitamin D level.
I am 38 yos, 5' 5" and 275 lbs. I sit at a desk for 8-12 hours a day staring at a computer and when I leave in the evening I have no motivation to get out there and take a few steps. I would prefer to get my excercise done in the morning, but I am a procastinator (and excuse maker as you can see lol!) and prefer to stay in lala land for that extra hour or so instead of getting up.
I feel okay, but know I would feel a million times better if I lost weight. I look at what people my height should weigh and it scares me. I could never get down to 135-150 pounds. That is just crazy! I would like to get to around 200 pounds first and then go from there.
Problem areas are I love to eat and cook. I know I use food as a boredom technique and mood booster. I dont eat sweets (except chocolate), dont drink soda or coffee or tea (big water drinker). But I will admit I love my carbs and salty foods.
I am single but have a wonderful boyfriend and we love to go out to eat and it is tough to choose healthy stuff off the menu when so many yummy things are out there.
I am looking for ways to motivate myself to get out there and move. I would love suggestions on tasty healthy food options. I just need a push and a starting point. Anyone willing to help me out. I dont want to be Debbie downer anymore on this journey and really need some encouragement. Would love to hear from anyone willing to make suggestions or wants to send motivation my way.
I look forward to hearing from some of you (I hope!).
