could i ruin my goal?

okay so, at the end of august i'm going to a music festival which lasts 4 days. i'm guaranteed to basically just go waaaaaaay OFF my plan as i'll be drinking a lot in the day & night, and the only food available will be fast food. the only bonus is i'll be dancing for hours each night and burning some calories haha. I just wondered if someone more knowledgeable about this kinda stuff could tell me how or if this will badly effect my weight loss plan and if there is some kind of recovery plan i can do after to make up for all the crappy food and alcohol :(

Is it possible to take your own food? If you're there for 4 days, you're probably taking a tent, and there'll be lots of room for filling foods. If I were going I'd take some tins of tuna and some apples, at least. You'll also save a lot of money by doing so.

Totally know what you mean! I did that before and I was 9 stone 4, and came back and had put on 7lbs! But all we ate, was bread, chips and alcohol, so it was a lot of bloat, and water weight etc, so it came off pretty easy when I went back to my plan!

I would pick lower calorie drinks, like vodka, over beer etc.

Try and see if they have any healthier stores there, like there were smoothies when I went, so maybe see if they have a breakfast one, noodle bars may be slightly better than burger bars.

Other than that, take some stuff that will last, you could take some cereal, tin (like said above) Fruit that lasts a while, e.g oranges, apples. Drink plenty of water!

But have fun, it's 4 days, and if you do put on just a little, just get back on track as soon as you get back (don't put it off) :)

First, a long term diet change isn't ruined for 4 days. And if you dance like I do, you'll burn tons of calories.

Second, I just spent a lot of time traveling and it is hard.

Often you can get things like fruit salads - or even salads - even at music festivals. Straight burgers aren't that bad either. Just cut the sauces and skip the fries. Or eat fewer.

Bring your own breakfast and eat a lot then - much cheaper too. See what you can do for lunch - my husband carries soy nuts, which he finds very filling.

Beer is the most fattening alcohol. Drink something else.

When you're not drinking alcohol, drink water instead of soda.

    Have fun!

I went to many festivals in the 90s ... I ate, drank and did all kinds of things that would not be encouraged if was living my life on a spreadsheet.

Basically my advice is to enjoy and cut yourself some slack diet-wise.

Whatever 'damage' you will do nutritionally will be compensated for with the increased exercise, time on your feet and the social aspects.

I'd just put the whole goal thing on the back-burner, life is too short, enjoy :)

    Enjoy your diet vacation.

I suspect youll see better losses when you come off of it due to heightened hormonal fluctuations.
    Have fun!

    Is it the Firefly Festival?

I would suggest trying to eat as healthily as you could, even though I know how difficult that is at a music festival. The last time I went to one (it was two days long) I actually didn't gain anything, which was probably because I was poor and could only afford to eat once a day. That is, if I wanted to have water throughout the day, because bottles of water were $10 each.

I would say; go there, have a good time, don't worry about it. When you come home, get back on track.

Stay away from the deep fry and try to keep away from beer. keep active and try to enjoy yourself without too many compromises!!

take a cooler, bring your own food, drink lots of water so you don't get dehydrated if you decide to drink beer. Enjoy yourself, dance your bum off and don't worry about it. Have a great time!

I say enjoy yourself, just eat as well as you can, try to pick the healthier options, set limits...for my personal journey I want to be able to eat what I want when I want, but I set limits, use moderation....Just don't beat urself up, jump back into the routine when ur back from vacation....

I'm heading to a music festival next week. same deal -- four days-- though it's a christian music festival, so there won't be all day alcohol involved (in our room will be a different story, i'm sure!). we plan on eating breakfast in our room, then packing food to bring with us. We'll be on our feet all day, walking, dancing, etc...., so i have no doubt we'll be burning tons of calories to counter any ice cream, funnel cakes, sodas, etc... that we just "have" to have. last year, we ate out for all of our meals, and i wound up losing a couple pounds!
