shape up shoes!

Just wondering how many people use shape up shoes and what do you think about them? I had heard a lot of negative stuff with the legal things going on with them. However my best friend had/has a pair and she loves them. So I found a pair on sale at TJ MAXX for 24.99. OMG -- these are the most amazing shoes ever. I have walked 3 miles every morning now for 9 days straight in them. There was no breaking in period..I got in them and took off. Now sometimes stopping is hard to do because you kind of "bounce" in them. I have not had one blister..there is no rubbing and my feet do not hurt by the end of the walk. ( I am still recovering from 3 broken toes I received last August). I LOVE them. Would like to hear other comments about them. :) thanks!

  • I have more back/hip pain when I wear the shape up shoes. I've had to let them go and buy some regular workout shoes. :( I thought the concept was great, and would provide a little extra help during daily activities but nope.

I have a pair that I got for a very good price and love them. I'm a nurse and even wear them for work and my feet don't ever hurt. I have not had any problems w back ache from wearing them.

I bought some shape up shoes and have had more back pain than usual. I have back problems, and two previous spinal surgeries 10 yrs ago. I think it was a waste of money. I bought them thinking it would just feel better wearing them throughout the day. I'm a petsitter and dogwalker. Even though most clients don't require walking, a few do and I learned really quick these shoes are worthless. There is a bit more bounce in your walk but they aren't very supportive. If you do try them I would suggest buying a size larger. They run small.

Avia makes a shoe I really like. They seem to wear out faster than most but they are more comfortable than anything else I've tried. By wearing out I mean looking bad. I'm rough on shoes because I am outside so much. But I do have a few old pair that are "yard shoes" because they look so bad but they still feel great and have good support.

I've had patients with foot problems tell me they are comfortable because of all the extra padding...I worry about knee stability and the potential for injury because of balance issues...the hype around them is crap...but a comfortable shoe is a comfortable shoe and that was a good deal you got there.

Just keep an eye on whether you start getting new weird joint pains.

There are lawsuits pending against several companies because there is no actual scientific proof behind their claims AND many people actually developed back issues because of them. I have never personally tried them but I would stick with a traditional pair of sneakers.
