    Yes, it's porridge oats.

Americans are very preoccupied with steel cut oats, which are wholegrain and fine cut. Our whole grain rolled oats are just as good.

Yep, it's oats rehydrated with water or milk and heated. Eaten with fruit or milk and sweetener or nuts. Depends on your likes. But yes, it's a hot cereal. Is porridge the same? I'm confused to what porridge is.

oatmeal sounds so much better.. porridge is sort of like ground oats, it's quite powdery but not quite powder.. ha. you heat milk and then mix it in and it forms a sorta oaty thick mixture. it is very yummy but it's much healthier to buy actual porridge oats which i think might be oatmeal?

we don't use the term oatmeal, i hear a lot about it on MFP hence i wondered exactly what it was and how it differs to porridge.

yes,, but use the one minute not the prepackaged. you can eat it several ways...with butter honey and cream... I eat mine plain with fruit ..like banana or blueberries and sprinkle with cinnamon powder. add a little honey if you want... its good for you ... it can lower cholesterol. :)

I think you'll find 'we' do use the term oatmeal. IS and I are both from the UK.

The 'powdery' rubbish you describe is processed oats. Get some proper porridge oats, and make them up properly.
