after looking at this DEFINITELY want to get to 10

Hehe just don't go to 7%, that's just plain SCARY!

I want the 15% v. 15% where it shows muscle v. thin. I don't want that much damn definition, but I just want that little body fat like in the blue bikini picture.

She is stunningly LOVELY but for MY personal preference probably a little smaller than I'd like to be. I think the 20% woman is about where I wanna get to.

Just like the page says....these percentage look completely different on everyone. I'm at 18.6% and fatter than the 20% pictures, so. I have bulges where I shouldn't have bulges at this body fat percentage, so my only option is to keep working at it and get my body fat down a little more.

I'm aiming for about 18-19% - for my height and current lean body mass, that's between 140 and 145lbs, which is right in the middle of the healthy range for my height (appropriate, since I have a medium build).

How does everyone measure body fat? I've used the online calculators and they say I'm 21% but I wonder how accurate they really are?

I found online calculators vastly wrong like off by 6%. I use body fat calipers where i measure 11 different areas and i measure the area until i get 3 consecutive readings that are the same.

I'm not even sure calipers are accurate. I had mine done by a trainer at a gym and she told me 19%. Judging by the pictures there's no way. I have too much fat (although it is hard to tell since none of the ladies above 20% have much in the way of muscle mass and I'd like to think I do).

Yeah, the pictures, as generic, are pretty off. I'm supposed 18.6% according to a handheld at the gym. I'm DEFINITELY fatter than the 20% one. I would say in the middle of 20-25%. Around 22% maybe. I'm soft despite all my muscle tone. I need to burn off a little more fat!

My advice with body fat, since it is so hard to accurately measure, is to just use the same method consistently. I use the handheld at my gym with the same settings every time (height 5' 2.75", normal (not athlete), etc). As long as, while using the same method, you are getting lower and lower percentages, you know you are losing fat. Just like with scales. As long as you use the SAME scale and weigh the same way (in the morning, naked, etc), it will give you consist results of whether you are losing. It doesn't matter how "off" it is as long as it is consistent.

Well the problem comes into play where you store your fat. For example, my overall body fat is 12%. But a large part of that is because my stomach has 18% body fat. What helps me is my legs and arms. Both are 9%, even my hips are are 11%. So for me to compare another person (who, lets say, has more body fat in their legs as compared to their stomach) would cause an issue and get those to second guess. The biggest reason body fat is important is it will allow you to estimate your goal weight. Again for me, I am 200 lbs t 12% body fat. That means I have 176 lbs of lean body mass and since I will never want to lose LBM, my goal weight has to be around 187 @ 6% body fat. This means I will maintain my metabolism and have my body fat low enough to have some abs.

I would be happy with anything slightly under 10%
  • My goal is 16-17%. I still look soft at 19%.

i'm going for 18-20% body fat.
i think 18% might be a little too hard to maintain so we'll see what happens once i get to around 22%

i like gummi bears, pizza, onions rings, booze and bacon cheeseburgers
