Cals burnt while lifting or just cardio? I'm doing NROLFW and need a number for my burn, I have a bodybugg as well, it usually says 250ish for a 30min time.

i use it for both. if ido cardio on the gym carido equipmrnt there is always a differnce in cals burned for what the machine says to what the heart rate monitor says. i will generally go by the machine b/c if runon the traedmill for the same distance and same pace as i do outside the cals burned are very close. i always where it for my weights0

Thanks for your reply. I've had mine for a few months, but keep forgetting to wear it. Mainly bc I don't know how to use it, lost my book. Think I'll try looking it up. The info might blow me away like my bodybugg did.0

I've read HRMs are inaccurate for weights but I can't recall the reasoning. If somebody knows, or if they know whynim wrong, could you please let me know? Thanks.0

HRMs can't be used to accurately track weightlifting (or any other anaerobic activity) because the relationship used to calculate the calories is based on oxygen uptake vs. heart rate- which only holds true during aerobic activity. When you get in to low HR, like rest, or anaerobic activities like weightlifting or some anaerobic-intense circuit workouts, the relationship simply doesn't work.
ETA: This is why bodybuggs and fitbits exist to track calories 24/7, rather than people wearing HRMs around the clock. (people do do that, you'll read about it in the forums, but it's wrong.)0 -
