I was wishing I had time to exercise, :ohwell:
thinking maybe I should do something about my weight, :grumble:
nagging hubby to go for walks & then whining because he didn't have time (but secretly glad to have an excuse!)
I was short of breath, tired all the time, having some health issues.
:grumble: :grumble: :grumble: :grumble: :grumble:
but
This year in October...
I'm 30 pounds lighter,
35 inches smaller,
able to walk 4+ miles an hour, :blushing:
able to ride the stationery bike for an hour at a time, :blushing:
making time almost every day for exercise FIRST,
& planning healthy meals.

How about you? How far have you come in the past year?

This is sort of a contrast to my thread that I started! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/67710--this-time-next-year-i-ll

Last year in October I was stressed beyond belief....
    32 lbs heavier...
and miserable for the most part...

    And now, I'm not!

I was just thinking about this the other day. Last year I had just started roller skating with a friend two times a week. I weighed 227 lbs. I had trouble going up a flght of stairs, and even putting my shoes on was difficult. By March of 2009 I decided to add to my weekly skating, and I joined a gym. It was hard at first to go. I was very intimidated by all the skinny people. However, I just put my earpbuds in, and went to work. At first I could only do about 30 minutes of cardio.

Today I weigh 195 lbs. and I feel great. I go to the gym about five times a week, and I am able to spend 1 hour and 20 minutes doing cardio. sometimes I feel that the weight loss is so slow, but when I think about where I was a year ago it makes me feel good about how much I've done .

I have only been at this for 6 months. But SOOO much has changed. I can walk with very little pain, and I do go for a walk (60 minutes:noway: ) almost every day. I am 76 pounds lighter. The chronic cough that I've had since at least 1995 is practically non-existant. I do not snore, and I am sleeping much better. I don't get short of breath walking across the room.

In 2 weeks we will be going to Vegas for the first time in 2 years. This time I expect to be able to walk most places and to enjoy the lights and sight seeing in a way that I never have been able to before. I'm even planning a trip to the Grand Canyon (and the Skywalk) without worrying how far it is from the bus to the Skywalk and the Lunch area.

And I expect to get on the plane without having to ask for a seatbelt extension:laugh:

Well, haven't quite got the weight loss thing down yet, but am highly motivated for my 35th in less than 8 weeks :noway:

But for me, before I started this healthy lifestyle:
Only ran if someone was chasing me.
Hadn't been on a bike in 15+ years, and when I did couldn't make it up a mini hill.
Only exercised in the privacy of my own living room.
When stressed, gorged on cakes and cookies.
    Water was for bathing in.

    But now?
I can run four miles in 24 straight minutes.
I find myself using www.mapmyride.com to figure out where I can take my bike to run errands.
Get the kids up early so that we can walk the 1.5 miles to their school in the morning.
Love the gym and my group fitness classes.
Have my house full of yummy fruits and vegetables and fill up on when feeling a little stressed (but stressed less and less these days).
Actually crave water with nothing but cold ice cubes.

Thank you MFPers for all your encouragement, advice, and companionship!

    hey!
I wore a pair of jeans tonight with quite a history...
they've been in my closet for over a year. I bought them a little tight, thinking I'd lose a few pounds.
    Didn't happen. :frown:
I tried them on & wore them to work one day but couldn't sit down in them! Too tight when sitting. :grumble:
So I tried them last spring.
    Still too tight.
    So tonight.....
    drumroll please...

    TOO BIG!!!!!!!!!!

They nearly come off without unzipping!
    :blushing: :blushing: :blushing:

    Thanks. It feels good!
I had trouble finding something to wear today, so after work I sorted clothes & organized my closet. I packed a big trash bag full for the women's shelter.

That is awesome! It is fun to shimmy out of clothes without buttoning.
    Congratulations! :drinker:
