I have quite severe lower back pain but still wanted to get fit, running is out as I also have a bad knee. What exercise would you recommend. I have seen my dr and he has referred me to a physio but I will probably have to wait a couple of months unless I pay to go privately. I know my weight is exacerbating the issue but it's a bit catch 22.

Something low impact.. Any possibility to try swimming?
Sometimes there are indoor swim clubs or gyms with pools. In my area, the local colleges have open swim tickets for fairly cheap.0
