After tonnes of research including loads of posts on here, I've decided to save myself £50 and not get the fitbit. I appreciate all the features it has but feel for me, the important thing is to have an accurate pedometer to encourage me to walk more.
I don't need to sync it with MFP, I don't need graphs and whilst the sleep thing is interesting, I'm not convinced that it really does measure sleep rather than just movement. I also don't go to high rise buildings so the stair thing isn't important.
So....... I'm spending £17.50 in a Tanita PD724.

It's about same size ish as Fitbit and has a 3D accelerometer mechanism which should be accurate. I've then downloaded a FREE app called istep log to manually add in my daily steps. I may use 'pedometer tracker' app which produces graphs but resent spending £7.99 for an app out of principle.
I can now stop spending time researching and spend the time WALKING instead.
