I no longer do it because I am a diabetic and on a restricted sodium diet and it is difficult as it is to keep under my sodium level and not spike my blood sugar. I will sometimes, but only if I have a 600-700 calorie burn day when exercising, to bring my calories up to a minumum of 1500 (I'm on an 1800 calorie per day diet by my cardiologist). But if I burn only 300 calories, I don't..0

It is recommended by Myfitnesspal, yes. They set you a calorie goal based on the assumption that you log additional exercise that is not counted as part of your lifestlye, and you eat those calories back. Otherwise, MFP would have set you a higher calorie goal.
Whether you do eat them back or not, is up to you. You'll find people arguing both sides. I eat mine back, and don't have a problem losing.0
