Training for a 10K

Planning on running my first 10K in February. I've run 5 5Ks so far (one being the Warrior Dash--an obstacle course) and I'm slow, but I didn't stop and I finished. Any recommendations on specific training exercises to build speed/endurance? I do have the Bridge to 10K app for my phone but I'm just wondering what has worked for others. I still have quite a bit of weight to lose so I've got to be smart about this. Thanks!

I did the bridge as preparation for my 1/2 marathon program. I loved the bridge and it will definitely get you trained for your race.0

I'm half way through a 5K210K program. First 10K is scheduled for November but I might do one in a month with the intention to walk/run it. So far, I'm doing well on the program. Week 3 is: day 1- run 13, walk 1, repeat two more times (so 39 minutes of running). Day 2- run 15, walk 1, repeat twice more. Day 3-run 17, walk 1, repeat twice more.
I did all of week 3, and saw my 5K time improve. I decided to redo week 3 and did day 1 again this morning. I was onunpaved trails (new for me) and completed the run fairly easily. I might just move on to week 4 after all!0
