Cleansing Diet?

Options
Hello ^^

A friend introduced to me a cleansing diet!

For 3 days, you just eat fruits all day or veggies. Basically, become a vegetarian for 3 days.

Then for 10 days, you drink this juice.
For every 1.5L of water,
There is 6 teaspoons of: Cayenne Pepper, Lemon Juice, and organic maple syrup.

You just drink that for 10 days.
I heard people who did it lost a little pants sizes.

I wanted to try it but I can't seem to accomplish the 3 days of fruits because i keep wanting to eat something.

Does this diet seem like a good idea? Although it doesn't sound too healthy, those ingredients make up for what you should have a day and it cleans you so I guess its not too bad.

Just wanted to share. What are your thoughts about it?

Diets don't work. They are temporary "water weight" loss plans. If this diet is something you can't do for the REST OF YOUR LIFE, then you'll more than likely gain the weight back. Learn how to eat for life. Change your lifestyle of eating by reducing HOW much you eat.

    No.

    It isn't. Don't do it.

    Stop looking for shortcuts.

Eat intelligently. Create a calorie deficit of about 20% under TDEE.
    Eat sufficient protein and fat.
Get off the couch and do some exercise.
    Rest and repeat.

DO NOT complicate it beyond the above.

Does this sound like a good idea to you? I suspect not, or you probably wouldn't have asked the question. And you've already discovered that only eating fruit doesn't make you feel good.

To me it sounds like a very foolish idea. Eating lots of fruit and veggies is great - but you need to balance that out with protein, fat and other carbs too in order to get good nutrition and to have enough energy to do all the things you want to do in your life.
My best suggestion is that you don't look for the "quick fix" but work on setting up good eating and exercise habits that will have you healthy for a long time, not just fitting into a different pants size next month and then being right out of that one month later again.

And regarding "cleansing" - your body has some really smart organs and systems in place to do this all on it's own, even when you eat complete rubbish. You don't need to only eat fruit for three days to "cleanse", it's just not necessary.

No, vegetarians do not eat like that. They also eat things with more substance.

I am a vegetarian and I definately do not eat like that.

You need protein and fats in your diet - this will not do get you that.

^ Yikes. Scary if this is true, and also very LOL.

With all the diet plans out there I should come up with one. The "show me your boobies" diet.

What you do is, you eat less calories than you burn for the first 5 days.
Then you do the same thing for the next 5 days.
Then everyone shows me the goods.
    Then you repeat.

    TA-DAH!

    We all win!

Taking shortcuts is a great way to get lost.

Thank you for asking for directions first.

You'll be shocked what formulating a plan, sticking to it, and being patient will do for you.

Your body is craving other foods, right? That's your body saying that it can't do the cleanse. It might have worked for your friend, but it sounds like your body has different requirements. :) Good luck!

I have been eating meat less too!

You are all right. Thank you! I am not going to do this but continue to eat less calories and stick to the plan.

Thank you so much!!! I appreciate all that replied!

And I'm sorry to all those vegans. I didn't mean about like thats what all vegans eat it but the part that they are very healthy with their food choices! :D I admire you guys!

Doing a straight liquid fast will make you lose weight, however, you will gain all the weight back + more. Doing the Master Cleanse will slow your metabolism down and you will have to continue just drinking that and nothing else for the rest of your life just to stay at the same size. It's called a starvation diet and they are so incredibly bad for you.

Firstly, kudos to you for posting with an open mind and for listening to the advice. It is actually pretty unusual and a breath of fresh air when people do.

Secondly, you were in no way (well at least imo) being offensive in any way to vegetarians - folks (well, at least myself) just wanted to point out that a balanced healthy diet comprises of more than just fruits and veggies.

    Good luck!

A great cleansing diet would be to eat a variety of nutritious fruits and vegetables, protein, and healthy fat and eat a lot of fiber (both soluble and insoluble are important) and TONS of water. Add some probiotics in the form of yogurt for added benefits. Your body will naturally cleanse itself with those ingredients.
