I get to go pick up my new Fitbit tomorrow...

I've used the online calculators to check TDEE and such - Fat2Fit Radio, Scooby's Workshop etc. And I can't help but think, "Now I'll really know how how many calories I burn in a day." But I wonder...

For those of you who use a Fitbit... have you lost weight by relying on its estimate of TDEE?Or how accurate do you think it estimates your burn? I think I burn more than the average calculation thinks I do. My weight loss seems to suggest that (i.e. I can eat a LOT and still lose).

Thoughts?

  • I use the FitBit along with MFP and it seems to be fairly accurate. I have lost 15+ pounds since I got it. In all it works for me! Hope that helps.

So did your 15 lbs lost equate to a caloric deficit of 3500 x 15 or 52500?

    I might be kinda numbers-nerdy...

The estimates work for me. I've lost 40+ lbs. with it, and the loss is what my deficit would suggest.

Love my fitbit. All I know is now I leave some calories left over. I am over the 10000 steps everyday and that gives me too many calories to eat back. I don't consider all walking exercise. I usualy leave between 200-300 uneaten now. But my deficit is only set to lose 1.5 pounds a weeks so there is some extra room there too.

BUT I love my fitbit, it keeps me stepping, but also because they are sending me a replacement for my husband. I washed his. Doesn't work well when washed. They are sending me one for free. I am very pleased, as they are not cheap to begin with.
