Heading for a plateau..?

I had my second weigh in today, I lost 2lbs the first week, and then another 1lb this week. However my measurements either stayed the same or went UP from last week, and I'm concerned that come next week, I might already be heading for a plateau.

I use MFP and the Cardio Trainer app to estimate my calories burned, and I felt I did a lot more exercise last week, than in my first week. I've set my activity level to sedentary and weight loss goal at 2lbs per week.

I did have a cheat day Saturday, but would that really mess with my measurements?

My food diary is open if it helps, could just do with some advice on whether there is anything I should be changing?? I don't want to plateau! :(

Additional info: SW 234lbs, CW 231lbs, GW 135lbs, height 5ft 1

Probably not heading for a plateau. If you have only been doing this for 2 weeks I would think it is your body adjusting to your new way of life.

I wouldnt measure again for at least a month.

Wishing you lots of luck in your new endeavour!

Sometimes it just takes a while to get started. I started without MFP and it took me about 2 months to lose 3-4 pounds. It has been better since I started using the log for foods, but it is still pretty slow and steady. Have been the same weight for almost 3-weeks which is maddening and have tried cutting back, exercising more, eating normally, and nothing is moving. I figure if you just keep at it long enough it will budge. Afterall none of us gained our weight overnight so the expectation should be a more slow and measured loss as well. Three pounds in three weeks is great! Don't forget that!

I am at a plateau... Almost a year at it. I started in 2010 I am 50 pounds down. and nothing more. Its hard stay in there, it will be worth it in the end. Dont focus so much on weight also numbers dont always mean anything, do measurments!

I'm too lazy to read other people's comments, but I wouldn't worry about a plateau unless you go about 3 weeks with no weight loss. I've also noticed when I work out, I tend to lose slower. That's normal. I will check out your diary and add anything else, but make sure to keep track of your sodium.

If you've only been doing this for two weeks, I really doubt you're already reaching a plateau. You might analyze what you're doing with your food and your fitness, and see if maybe tweaks just need to be made to be at the optimal level for YOU and what you need for weight-loss. Good luck!

Just a quick thought after glancing at your diary. Definitely start to track your sodium and definitely increase your water intake! You need to double and triple your water intake actually. Good luck!

It is way too early to be worried about a plateau. Just keep at it. results average out over a long period of time. Week to week it is not uncommon to stall or even gain weight. Thank in much longer terms and relax.

I wouldn't consider 1-2 weeks at the same weight a plateau. My weight has been consistent since February. Now that's a plateau.

Thanks everyone! I think I was definitely over-reacting a little, and after reading the posts, and hearing some advice from friends have decided to make a few small changes this week that will helpfully move my weight loss along a little - am going to give less salt & more water a real go, and have ordered some kitchen scales online so that I can count every little calorie.

I will definitely keep my mind focused on the long term more too, and remember that weight isn't always everything :)
