Need emotional support and some acvice pls

Hi all!!
I am just wondering if anyone else feels like watching what you eat has taken over their lifes?
I am 23 and 5ft7 weighing 138.9 lb...I have lost most weight through exercise...however since I joined this web site I have become obsessed with what I eat...and worse has happened I will no longer let myself have treat days(before I did once or twice a week) and I now will chose not to go out for meals or drinks with my partner or friends,and when there is any occassion that I have to go I will obsess about it for the whole day and will feel so guilty for eating treats and having alcohol....I am struggling with my emotions and just dont know what to do to get control of this before it turns into an ED ...

You are already at a decent weight (I'm not sure what your weight loss goals are).
If calorie counting is becoming too much for you and is taking over your life or you are obsessing over it than it may be time to take a break from it. I do it now and again when it becomes too much.
If you decide to take a break just ensure you make the best choices possible so you stay on track. Continue to work out and make good choices when it comes to food.0 -
it took over my life for a while, I used the site to log everything like it was my religion. I did it for long enough that I pretty much know what I can and cannot eat before I log so I've backed off a bit knowing that I'm not someone who will want to log my food once I'm at goal and ready to hold it there. I figure MFP is like training wheels, I logged enough to know how to eat and I'm raising the training wheels up a little so I can coast on my own in anticipation of taking them off all together.0

It has taken over my life... but I do not let myself fret over it. I hold myself accountable and remember that life is still meant to be enjoyed. I CAN go out for drinks and such and still lose weight. I just have to manage it accordingly.0

Sometimes you have to take a break. You are young, enjoy your life. There is no need to let it take over your life, like a previous poster, use this like training wheels.0

Ideally I would like to be 136lb...yea might have to try and resist the urge of logging things for this week and ser how my monday weighing goes thanks x0

Yes I'm new, but i feel like actually watching what I eat is the only thing that helps, I can eat so much so fast that if I am not mindful and force myself to check what I eat I can eat my entire calorie count in one sitting.
Use this site to your advantage. Don't look at it like it some demon holding you down. Remember it is a tool. If you are going out to eat that night spend 15 more minutes at the gym. Jog that extra mile for the day. Have a lower cal filling lunch. Remember all that matters is that you hit your macros. Let the tool help you have fun and lose weight at the same time.
I'm only 5 days in and using mfp already has me feeling great. I love tracking everything I eat as it makes me understand the consequences of my decisions. You look great and hopefully you will feel great about everything you take in and all the good choices you make.

I have suffered from an eating disorder for 12 years. I know it takes over your life. My advice would be to take a break for a week. Try to trust yourself to eat healthy and weigh yourself at the end of the week to see if you've got a grip on what your body needs. Learn to trust your body instead of depending on logging every single calorie. It is okay to enjoy yourself.
If it helps you stay on track and prevent a binge, keep using it. But don't think that going over by 100 calories in a day is going to be the end of you. You have a healthy goal weight so that is good. But really try not to let calories take over your life. Health is not the result of obsession, it's the result of moderation and fulfillment.

Yes, it has taken over my life, but it NEEDED to. When I started tracking my intake and exercise with MFP I was 70 lbs. over anything like a normal weight for my height. I'm still 45 lbs. over that. Until I can figure out how to eat intuitively without overeating or losing control, I need to be obsessed. For people who are already in a normal weight range, it perhaps isn't a healthy obsession. I don't know. I just know it's good for me to spend quite a bit of time thinking about what I eat, as opposed to just eating.0
